Group therapy and professional learning

Sanctum’s work includes opportunities for people seeking support through group therapy and for counselling professionals interested in further learning. Whether you are considering a therapy group or enquiring about trauma informed psychoeducation, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss what you are looking for.

Exploring experiences alongside others

You may be interested in group therapy because you would like to explore a difficulty alongside people with related experiences.

A group gives people time to talk and listen within an agreed setting. Each group has its own focus, and the way sessions work will depend on its purpose and the people it is intended for.

Before joining, you should have a clear understanding of what the group involves. You may want to know how many people will attend, whether the same people meet each time and what participation looks like.

It is also reasonable to have mixed feelings about taking part. You might be interested in hearing from others while feeling uncertain about speaking yourself. These are things we can discuss when considering whether a particular group would suit you.

Find out what a group involves before deciding

The details matter when you are considering a therapy group. A topic may feel relevant, but you may also have questions about the format, timing or expectations.

Information for each group should explain:

  • Who the group is intended for
  • Its focus and the topics it will cover
  • How sessions will be organised
  • Where and when meetings will take place
  • The number and length of sessions
  • Fees and any booking conditions
  • How to express an interest or apply to join

We can also discuss any communication or access needs you would like me to know about.

Before taking part, you should understand the group agreement, including expectations around participation, privacy and confidentiality. If you are unsure about anything, please ask before making a commitment.

Trauma informed learning for counselling professionals

I welcome enquiries from counsellors and psychotherapists interested in further learning around trauma informed psychoeducation.

My practice draws on extensive experience working with PTSD and complex trauma, alongside particular expertise in OCD and other anxiety disorders. I also work with the effects of neurodivergence, depression, addiction, loss and bereavement.

You may be looking for learning around a particular subject, or have questions arising from your professional work. When making an enquiry, it is helpful to explain the audience, their existing experience and what they would like to understand better.

For a team or professional group, you can include:

  • The subject you would like to explore
  • Who would be attending
  • The questions or learning needs you want to address
  • Your preferred format and approximate timing

We can then discuss whether the proposed training is something Sanctum can offer and what it could involve.

Ask about upcoming groups and training

For information about planned groups or training sessions, please get in touch.

Let me know whether you are enquiring as someone seeking therapy, an individual practitioner or a representative of a professional group. A short description of your interests will help me understand which information is relevant to you.

You are welcome to make an enquiry while you are still considering your options. Asking for details does not commit you to attending.

Tell me what you are interested in

  • Choose the type of enquiry

Let me know whether you are interested in group therapy or professional training. If you are enquiring on behalf of others, include a little information about the group.

  • Share what you are looking for

You can mention a subject, a learning need or a question about taking part. For therapy enquiries, you do not need to include a detailed personal history.

  • Discuss the available options

We can consider whether there is a suitable opportunity and talk through the relevant details before you decide what to do next.

Questions about groups and training

Explore some of our frequently asked questions.

Start by asking about the group’s purpose, intended participants and format. We can discuss what you are seeking support with and any concerns about taking part. The topic alone may not answer every question, so you are welcome to ask about the practical details too.

Participation expectations will depend on the particular group. Before joining, you should know how sessions work and what members are invited to contribute. If speaking in a group feels difficult, please raise this when enquiring so we can discuss it.

Training enquiries are welcome from counsellors and psychotherapists interested in trauma informed psychoeducation. The intended audience and any experience needed should be stated for each event, helping you judge whether the content is relevant to your work.

Sanctum is predominantly an online practice, but the format should be confirmed for each group or training event. Please check the location, joining arrangements and time zone before registering, particularly if you will be attending from outside the UK.

Confirmed dates and prices should appear with the details of each published event. If there is no listing for the opportunity you are interested in, contact me to ask about plans. An enquiry does not reserve a place unless a booking has been agreed.

Yes. Please include the type of team, the approximate number of participants and the subject you would like to explore. You can also mention preferred dates and format. We can then consider whether Sanctum can offer training suited to the enquiry.

Visit the What to Expect & Fees page for information about session arrangements. For current availability or questions about working together, contact me directly. We can discuss these details before you decide whether to begin.
